Glade Elementary/Middle School – Energy Star Certified 

Project Cost $3,667,620; Size: 68,000 ft² 

“The engineering design and construction administration proved so successful that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded Glade Elementary/Middle School with an Energy Star® certification, making the school one of the most energy efficient in the nation.” ZDS designed the new HVAC system for the school to meet current ASHRAE 62 and West Virginia Department of Education, Policy 6200 requirements.  The HVAC system was through packaged roof mounted VAV air handling units. ZDS designed comprehensive DDC controls with remote monitoring, humidity and CO2 controls including DDC centralized monitoring.  With the aid of ZDS’ planning. Webster County Schools was able to phase the project allowing the major construction efforts to continue without loss of any school days.  The project qualified for EPAct for energy efficient design while using over 50% less energy than schools designed using ASHRAE 90.1-2001.
